We're having a...

Boy!

And it was pretty apparent...from several angles... I'm pretty sure we're not going to be surprised later. So congrats to the 43% of you that guessed correctly! I'll admit, I wasn't one of you.

It was fun to get to meet our very wiggly little guy! He was having a hard time holding still for the first part (takes after his dad) and then turned away from the cold gel and fell asleep (also takes after his mom I guess)  so I had to get up and walk around to wake him up again. From the looks of it, all body parts are intact and we are on schedule for the last week in June.

We are ecstatic... especially Cam who is already planning his son's first camping trip (July). It's also good because he is already halfway done with the blue blanket he has been crocheting. I'm serious.

Unfortunately, we had a girl name, but are having a hard time coming up with boy names since our favorite 3 all made the top 5 most popular names last year, and we don't want to saddle him with "Aiden H." through high school. Your suggestions are welcome!

  1. kim i couldn't be more excited! being a mom is the best! and you'll be amazing! as for names... I know how you feel with the most popular. That's the one thing that was holding me back from Emma (that and I'm not a fan of the "E" i like "e" much better) but looks like my princess is stuck with Emma B. Well congrats! I can't wait to meet my future son-in-law ;)

  2. Congrats! We are having a hard time with boy names, too. We'll just keep surfing the internets until we find something we like, I suppose.

  5. Congratulations! The girl reign is changing in the Horch family! (I'm also crocheting a blanket VERY slowly...but I started with green until we knew the gender...)

  6. If you have girl names you like, check out http://nymbler.com and use those names as "inspirations". It'll pull up boy names that you may like based on those names you already know that you like. Play with it. I'm not getting pregnant any time soon but it's kind of fun to come up with baby names that I like. Good luck picking a name and CONGRATULATIONS on having a boy! Becca Kauer

  7. Congrats you guys!! And thanks for the three-word one-syllable message Cam :)

As far as names go, I like traditionally last names for a boys first name. I met a little boy named Jerrickson the other day and he was adorable!

  10. YAY! Boys are so fun!

But boy names? HARD. I found a site once (don't remember what it was, but you can google) that charted the popularity of names over the years. I always go for ones that have tanking stats :) Anything that ends in "n" is WAY overdone lately (sorry Cameron, but it was actually really original for your age group! just not now...). You'll notice it now that's it's pointed out!

Oh, and I love that Cam is crafty :)

  11. How fun! You will LOVE shopping for a boy. It makes you feel bad for all of the people who have to shop for overly-frilly girly stuff. :)

Tyler and I had already decided upon the name Jack when we were dating, so there wasn't a question about it. I think it's like 35th in popularity or something but that doesn't phase us. We didn't know that until right before he was born. I've always loved the name Henry but I'm not too sure how Henry Horch would end up. Probably in a children's circus dressed up as a Dr. Suess character. Good luck!! :)

  12. Congratulations!! I am so happy for you guys Boys are fun and I agree that they are fun to shop for too! Good luck on choosing a name that is the hardest thing for Greg and I to do! We are due in 2 weeks and don't know the gender so it is double hard!

  14. Congratulations! I haven't been on your blog for a while and am surprised and happy you're expecting a boy! So fun. We added a boy to our family last September and he's so smiley and laughs a lot. We named ours Paul. How about Peter?
