Cheers for Mom

Ever since I wrote about the silly things that Wes does last month, I keep remembering more awesome things that I meant to include in that post.

I'm going to start with my personal favorite, Wes is very concerned about other people. If I get him a cookie, then he tells me that I need to have a cookie too (so that things are fair). We had a problem for awhile where I would finish eating before him, and he would tell me "Mommy more!" Meaning I --not he-- needed more, because I was done and he was still eating. It kind of drove me crazy sometimes when I was full from dinner and he was relentless and refused to let it be until I had more.

One day, when I finished and Wes started freaking out that I needed more, Cam said, "Yay mom! She finished all her dinner!" and started clapping. Wes thought that was awesome and cheered for me too. Now whenever I finish something (even a mini-muffin like we had for snack today) Wes yells, "Yay Mom!" and claps for me. I have to admit, it's pretty validating.

Two other quick stories that I want to make sure I have documented:
1) Wes has a raccoon that lives in the seat of his ride-on bulldozer. I'm not sure how it started, but when we're cleaning up and tell Wes to put his raccoon away, he opens the seat and puts him right back inside.

2) This story is left over from Christmas. Cam is a morning person, so on days that Wes gets up before a reasonable time, he's the one who gets the two of them breakfast. Well, Wesley learned from Cam the virtues of drinking the milk out of the cereal bowl... although he's usually not patient enough to eat all the cereal out of it first. More than once he's ended up with a face full of Raisin Bran. He also drinks the juice when I give him a bowl of fruit, although sometimes he'll scoop the handful of peaches out first.

He'll actually even drink the water that's left when I hand him a bowl of freshly washed grapes.

On Christmas Eve my dad took all "the men" out to eat "men food" which was at an all you can eat steak and barbecue sort of place. Wesley was given a bowl of corn smothered in butter. As you can imagine, he drank all the butter juice.
